Day 1: Alexandria

The Museum of Alexandria
Arriving in Alexandria you start your tour with a visit to the museum of Alexandria. Considered one of Egypt’s finest museum, the Alexandria National Museum is located in a restored palace and contains about 1,800 artifacts that narrate the history of Alexandria throughout the ages, including the Pharaonic, Roman, Coptic and Islamic eras.



The Roman Catacombs
Your trip starts by exploring the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa; the necropolis of 3 sub-levels dating from the
2nd century AD merges aspects of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman culture in its features. Visit the Roman triclinium – a banquet hall to honor the dead, as well
as statues, reliefs, and a pillared lobby featuring depictions of Egyptian gods in Roman armor.

Lunch
Enjoy lunch at the Mediterranean seafront in one of the popular Alexandrian seafood restaurants.

The Library of Alexandria

After lunch you stop at the library of Alexandria. The Alexandria Bibliotheca, is built on the site of the famous ancient library and is home to 8 million books.


Qaitbey Citadel
Concluding the day is a visit to the 15th century Qaitbay Citadel, built upon the ruins of the ancient Alexandria Lighthouse, one of the 7 wonders of the world.

Day 2: El Alamein- Cairo

Today after having your breakfast at Alexnadria hotel, we will travel 100 kilometers south of Alexandria for a more somber experience at the historic battle site of El Alamein. It was here that British and Commonwealth soldiers fought a decisive Allied victory against the German Africa Corps that defined the North African campaign. Both sides suffered heavy losses and the memorial commemorates nearly 12,000 Commonwealth servicemen who died in the Western Desert campaigns during the Second World War.

After visiting Al Alamein cemetery, return to Cairo in the afternoon
