Itinerary

Ben Ezra Synagogue, the Hanging Church, Church of St. Barbara, Churches of St. Bacchus & St. Sergius, Amr ibn el Aas mosque

Your tour starts in Coptic Cairo. Once known as the Roman stronghold of Babylon, Cairo’s oldest section is the ancient heart of the Coptic Christian community featuring five original churches, the first mosque built in Africa and the oldest synagogue on the continent.

Cairo Citadel, Alabaster Mosque
Your tour continues on to visit the this massive stone fortress, built into the original city-walls of Cairo by the famous Sultan Saladin in the 12th century, and crowned with the Mosque of Mohammed Ali 700 years later. Enjoy the spectacular view over all of Cairo, you can even spot the silhouettes of the Giza pyramids on the horizon.

Mosque and Madrasa of Sultan Hassan
Your next stop is at the nearby Mosque and Madrasa of Sultan Hassan. Massive yet elegant, this grand structure is regarded as one of the finest pieces of Islamic architecture in the world. It was built between 1356 and 1363 by Sultan Hassan and we consider it a must see sight while visiting Cairo.

Lunch & Khan el Khalili Bazaar
For your last visit of the tour your guide will take you to one of the oldest bazaars in the middle east: Khan el Khalili. After enjoying lunch at a local lunch you can stroll
along countless alleys and drop into quaint shops that have sold souvenirs and antiques since the 13th century. Enjoy a wonderful walking tour of Islamic Cairo and Al Moez Street which is the main street of the old Islamic city and stretches for almost 1 kilometer, and branches into long quiet streets and alleys.
